Company Description
Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers (SVCMC) has fallen on troubled times. The beleaguered hospital system emerged from bankruptcy in 2007 after two years under Chapter 11 protection, and laid out plans to build a new, smaller facility. But apparently the system was still too weak to survive and it filed for Chapter 11 protection again in 2010; the second time around SVCMC is liquidating its assets. It has closed its flagship acute care hospital, the 730-bed St. Vincent's Hospital-Manhattan, and is closing or selling off additional assets including hospitals and skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers.
