Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers knows a thing or two about resuscitation. The beleaguered hospital system emerged from bankruptcy in 2007 after two years under Chapter 11 protection, and shortly thereafter began building an $800 million, state-of-the-art hospital. But first Saint Vincent's had to restructure, and the system that once ran about a half-dozen hospitals throughout the New York metropolitan area was forced to close or sell most of them. What remains are St. Vincent Hospital Manhattan, a 440-bed acute care hospital, and St. Vincent's Westchester, a behavioral health facility.
