Company Description
You won't find any portly beer-brewing monks at this abbey. Saint Meinrad Archabbey got its start when Benedictine monks came to the Midwest from Switzerland in the mid-1800s and turned a three-room cabin into a religious community in St. Meinrad, Indiana. The archabbey now is home to the Saint Meinrad Monastery and the School of Theology; other operations include Abbey Press (religious cards, books, gifts), Abbey Caskets (handmade monastic-style caskets of poplar, cremation urns), the Monte Cassino Shrine, and the Archabbey Guest House for religious retreats. It also licenses more than 20 companies in other countries to print its Abbey Press materials in other languages.
