Company Description

SUNY Downstate Medical Center brings a healthy dose of education, research, and patient care to Brooklyn. SUNY Downstate is the borough's only academic medical center. It comprises colleges of medicine, nursing, graduate studies, and health-related professions; research laboratories; and the University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) medical centers. The main UHB facility in Brooklyn is a 380-bed teaching hospital; UHB also operates the 500-bed Long Island College Hospital (acquired in 2011), the Bay Ridge urgent care and surgery center in Brooklyn, and a number of satellite health centers. SUNY Downstate is part of the State University of New York system. Its sister campus, SUNY Upstate, is located in Syracuse, New York.
