Its offerings include aseptic cartons and plastic bottles, as well as specialized machinery for aseptic container manufacturing. To better focus on its core business as it looks to expand beyond its core market of Central Europe, SIG has sold off some businesses that make devices such as labeling machines. The company was the subject of a bidding war between Norway's FERD and New Zealand's Rank Group Ltd. in late 2006 and early 2007; FERD dropped out of the battle after Rank Group made a $2.3 billion offer.
