Secom's security systems watch for intruders coming through a window or sneaking around in cyberspace. Operating in Japan and about 10 other countries, Secom provides a range of security services and products, including security guards, cash transport, and security sensors and other equipment through more than 160 subsidiaries. Its home security systems also monitor for fires, gas leaks, and equipment malfunctions. In recent years the company has expanded its focus beyond its core security services to include fire protection services, medical services, insurance services, geographic information services (GIS), and information and communication related services. Secom was founded in 1962.
