French industrial giant SAFRAN could argue that communication isn't always the key to a happy marriage, especially if one side insists on being defensive. The company -- spawned by the 2005 merger of communications equipment maker Sagem and aircraft engine manufacturer Snecma -- sold its broadband and mobile communications businesses in 2008. The company is returning to its aerospace roots while building up its defense and security operations.
