Rounder Records began as a purveyor of American folk music, and has since broadened its reach to encompass genres such as jazz, Cajun, Celtic, world, rock, and soul in addition to traditional Americana. The label operates through many imprints (Bullseye Blues, Flying Fish, Heartbeat, Philo, Zoe). Rounder Records has participated in music preservation projects, such as joint releases with the Library of Congress Archive of Folk Culture, as part of its mission to keep the roots of American music available to the music-buying public.
