Company Description
Ridgebury Tankers is in it for the long haul. The deep sea shipping company plans to acquire and own a fleet of modern Suezmax tankers, vessels that are capable of hauling freight (mainly crude oil) on both short and long ocean routes. After the closing of its IPO, which it filed in mid-2010, it plans to acquire an initial fleet of three to four tankers and deploy them in the spot market, which allows for immediate chartering of a vessel rather than scheduled time chartering. Ridgebury's fleet is expected to be part of a tanker pool, in which ship owners pool their vessels in order to achieve better market coverage and efficiency. The Marshall Islands-incorporated company filed to go public for $250 million.
