The firm's primary holding is a majority stake in Singer Asia, a distributor of consumer durable goods, including home appliances, Singer brand sewing machines, and consumer electronics, such as TVs, and DVD players, with about 980 stores and 1,300 wholesale dealers throughout Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, among other countries in the region. Singer Asia helps shoppers finance their purchases through its Singer Consumer Finance arm, which boasts 650,000 installment accounts. Formerly known as Singer N.V., the holding company changed its name to Retail Holdings N.V. following the sale of the sewing machines business and the Singer trademark in 2004.
