The company is a top refiner and recycler of zinc, lead, and plastic in Europe. The company, called Metaleurop from its formation in 1998 until 2007, recycles lead and polypropylene plastics from automobile and industrial batteries and zinc remaining from the manufacture of steel plates. Recylex also makes zinc oxides and special metals. Its products are used by the construction, automotive, and electronics industries. In 2010 Recylex opened a used battery processing site in Algeria.
