REX American Resources CorporationDayton, OH United States
Company Description
REX American Resources Corporation has gone from retail to renewables. The company, formerly REX Stores, closed its chain of retail appliance and electronics stores to move in a major way into the alternative energy -- mainly ethanol -- business. After fully divesting its retail holdings in 2009, the company focused on acquiring ethanol production facilities. By 2010, REX American had some $125 million invested in seven corn- or sorghum-based ethanol production plants, controlling about 190 million gallons of production capacity per year. Chairman and CEO Stuart Rose owns about 20% of REX American, with capital investment funds holding another 40%.
