Company Description
R.E.A. Holdings maintains oil palm operations -- the cultivation of oil palms and the production of crude palm oil -- and mines coal from two concessions in the province of East Kalimantan in Indonesia. The company owns about 60,000 hectares of land (roughly 150,000 acres), of which about 30,000 hectares are in production at any given time. (The agricultural unit generates the bulk of R.E.A.'s sales and profits.) R.E.A. spent 2009 and 2010 bringing its two coal concessions into production and establishing trading relationships. Indonesia generates about 40% of sales in Indonesia, while other parts of Asia account for the majority.
