Company Description

Provigo helped Loblaw conquer Québec but has since fallen on hard times. A subsidiary of the Loblaw Companies (Canada's #1 grocery chain), Provigo owns or franchises about 90 supermarkets in Québec under the Provigo banner, as well as 100-plus Maxi, and Maxi & Cie (discount stores) shops there. It offers private-label products under names such as President's Choice, as well as national brands and locally produced food. Provigo also operates wholesale stores under the Presto and Cash & Carry banners. The company's wholesale division serves about 340 independent but affiliated outlets (under the Axep, L'intermarché, and Club Entrepôt Provigo banners) and about 2,500 independent clients throughout the province.
