Company Description
Provident Energy Ltd. (formerly Provident Energy Trust) acquires and manages oil and gas production properties and midstream infrastructure assets. It owns oil and gas wells in Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada. The wells produce gas, light/medium oil, and heavy oil. Provident Energy's core operating area is in west central Alberta. In 2009 it reported proved reserves of 35.7 million barrels of oil equivalent. Provident Energy is also one of North America's top natural gas liquids (NGL) players. Its NGL business includes interests in extraction, transport, and other facilities. Following changes in tax law, in 2011 the company converted from a trust to a corporation to produce stronger shareholder value.
