ProAssurance protects professional health associates -- the doctors, dentists, and nurses of the US. One of the largest medical liability insurance providers in the nation, ProAssurance is the holding company for ProAssurance Indemnity, ProAssurance Casualty, and other subsidiaries that sell liability coverage for health care providers, primarily in the South and Midwest. Its customers include individual doctors in private practice, as well as large physician groups, clinics, and hospitals. Its ProAssurance Specialty Insurance subsidiary writes excess and surplus (higher risk) lines of medical professional liability insurance. The ProAssurance Casualty unit also provides some coverage for legal professionals.
