PositiveID CorporationDelray Beach, FL United States
Company Description
Who knew something the size of a grain of rice could protect so much? PositiveID, formerly VeriChip, knows it well. The firm provides implantable radio frequency identification (RFID) microchips for humans and animals. The chip is inserted under the skin and has a unique verification number used to access a subscriber-supplied database providing information when scanned. While its implantable technology has made headlines, most of its business comes from wearable and attachable ID tags, as well as vibration monitoring systems, used to monitor and protect people and assets. In 2009 the company changed its name from VeriChip to PositiveID to reflect a new focus on electronic health records.
