Perched in the highlands of the Welsh coast, Portmeirion Group makes ceramics with themes reflecting the beauty and unspoiled nature of the surrounding area. The company also distributes glassware, cutlery, cookware, and decorative household items under the Spode, Royal Worcester, and Pimpernel brands. Products are made locally and distributed in the UK and US directly to retailers and through distributors in 50 other countries. Portmeirion has a US subsidiary and Canadian joint venture. Founder Susan Williams-Ellis was making ceramic items for a gift shop at the well-known Portmeirion Village when she purchased two pottery companies in 1960 and 1961 and combined them to form Portmeirion Group.
