Company Description

Platinum Energy Solutions (PES) is a regular frack of all trades. The oilfield services company provides hydraulic fracturing (fracking), coiled tubing, and other onshore pressure pumping services to two customers, Petrohawk Energy and Encana Oil & Gas. (Fracking is a somewhat controversial method to extract oil and natural gas by pumping pressurized chemicals into the ground to break it up). PES formed in September 2010 and began fracking services for Petrohawk in the Eagle Ford Shale in south Texas in August 2011. Its contract to begin fracking for Encana in the Haynesville Shale across east Texas and Louisiana starts in October. PES filed a $300 million initial public offering in September 2011.
