Plane Boats owns and operates the Cosmic Muffin, a boat made from a plane, available for charter in the Fort Lauderdale area for parties, meetings, and corporate events. The Cosmic Muffin was not only owned by Howard Hughes in its previous incarnation as a Boeing 307 Stratoliner, but was also written into Jimmy Buffet's first novel Where Is Joe Merchant? and featured in his song Desdemona's Building a Rocket Ship. Plane Boats also sells related merchandise and rents out advertising space on the Cosmic Muffin. Owner Dave Drimmer purchased the craft in 1981 and took 15 years turning it into a floating plane palace worthy of song and story.
