Pioneer's short-line freight railroads operate more than 500 miles of track in eight states surrounding Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan, and interchanges with major railroads. The company also operates sightseeing trains on its railroad in the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, area. Subsidiary Pioneer Railroad Equipment owns a fleet of some 1,260 railcars that are used by the company's railroads and leased to other rail carriers.
