Pioneer Corporation · Tokyo Japan
Company Description
- Nikkei 225
Pioneer takes you on a journey of sight and sound. A top maker of consumer and commercial electronics, about half of its sales come from car electronics (stereos, speakers, navigation systems), which are sold to retailers and automobile makers. Pioneer also produces video equipment (DVD players and recorders, plasma displays) and audio products (stereo components, stereo systems). It also sells products to business customers (AV systems, factory automation systems) and, through Discovision Associations (US-based unit), it generates revenue from licensing optical disc technologies. Citing plummeting sales and fierce competition, Pioneer announced it would withdraw from the TV business by March 2010. To read the full description, subscribe now.
