Company Description

Pinnacle Systems was an avid fan of home movies. A unit of multimedia software maker Avid Technology, the company provided PC-based products that enable consumers to use home computers, camcorders, and VCRs to create home videos incorporating music and special effects. Pinnacle also made software that allowed users to watch television on their PCs. Previously a developer of products for both the consumer and professional video editing markets, Pinnacle was acquired in 2005 by Avid for about 6.2 million shares of stock and $71.3 million in cash. Avid integrated Pinnacle's commercial broadcast products into its Avid Video division, but retained the Pinnacle brand for its consumer products.
