Pinnacle Data Systems, Inc. (PDSi) has a custom approach to computing. The company builds and services made-to-order UNIX-based servers and other application-specific computer systems used in the medical, telecommunications, and process control industries, as well as in government markets. PDSi combines third-party equipment -- including processors from AMD, Intel, and Oracle -- with its own custom parts to create its systems. The company provides its build and repair services to manufacturers that include Hewlett-Packard and Silicon Graphics International. PDSi gets most of its revenues in the US. The company was acquired by electronic components distributor Avnet in early 2012.
