Philips Mexicana is just one outpost in the Royal Philips Electronics empire. Philips Mexicana represents the manufacturing, import and export, and distribution operations of Royal Philips in Mexico. Operating through about a dozen plants in the country, it makes components and products specializing in consumer electronics, small appliances, lighting equipment, and electronic medical equipment. Most of its manufacturing plants are located near the US border, taking advantage of the Maquiladora structure to import, assemble, and then export products under favorable conditions.
