Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology sucks the life out of its competition. Founded in 1890, the company is a leading maker of turbomolecular pumps, which it invented. The pumps create vacuum environments needed to make computer chips, coat glass, and produce pure metals. Pfeiffer Vacuum also makes rotary vane pumps (low-vacuum), root pumps (used in bulk processing), vacuum instruments, and accessories. Its mass spectrometers and leak detectors are used for applications in biotechnology, medicine and pharmaceuticals, and industrial manufacture. Other products include digital pressure gauges and vacuum components. The company sells its products through a global network, primarily in Europe, Asia, and North America.
