Company Description

Peoples Community Bancorp was the holding company for Peoples Community Bank, which had about 20 branches in southwestern Ohio and southeastern Indiana. The bank offered standard deposit products including savings and checking accounts, IRAs, and CDs. Lending activities consisted mostly of single-family residential mortgages and commercial real estate and construction loans. In 2009 the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTC) issued Peoples Community Bancorp a cease-and-desist order after determining that the company was critically undercapitalized. First Financial Bancorp then agreed to buy all but two of the bank's branches.
