Company Description

Parkdale America can spin a yarn as long as Victor Hugo's classic, Les Miserables. The company, a joint venture between Unifi and Parkdale Mills, produces cotton and synthetic yarns using open-end and air jet spinning technologies. Parkdale America's yarns are sold to US, Columbia, and Mexico apparel and textile markets under the Parkdale brand. Through a long-term agreement, it supplies all of Delta Apparel's yarn needs. Textile giants Parkdale Mills and Unifi combined their spun yarn assets and operations in 1997 to form Parkdale America. Managed by Parkdale Mills, the venture includes 12 manufacturing plants in North Carolina. Parkdale Mills holds a 66% stake in Parkdale America, and Unifi, a 34% stake.
