If the Parents Television Council had been around a little earlier, we may not have ever seen Daisy Duke in those shorts or the shenanigans going on in Jack, Chrissy, and Janet's apartment. The PTC was founded in 1995 to protect children from sex, violence, and profanity on television and in other media. The group, with about 1 million members, advises its members on appropriate actions (letters to sponsors, FCC complaints) and publishes alerts about shows it deems not suitable for children, show and movie reviews, and a parenting column.
