Company Description
Independent cinema looks good from Paramount's vantage point. Paramount Vantage, the specialty film label of Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures, releases smaller budget films such as A Mighty Heart and Into the Wild. On average, the studio distributes about 5 movies a year. Its most recent critical hits were the 2008 film Revolutionary Road, staring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, and the Oscar-winning 2007 film There Will Be Blood. The company was founded in 1998 as Paramount Classics; in 2006 the studio reorganized its specialty label, renaming it Paramount Vantage. It made a name for itself that year when it released the unexpected hit An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore's documentary about global warming.
