Paragon Shipping strives to be a shining example of efficiency in the marine transportation of dry bulk cargo. The company owns a fleet of about a dozen vessels, including Handymax, Panamax, and Supramax units, which are chartered to shippers. Paragon's vessels, which have a total capacity of approximately 750,000 deadweight tons (DWT), carry such commodities as bauxite, coal, grain, iron ore, fertilizers, and phosphate worldwide. It has ordered two each of Kamsarmax and Handysize drybulk vessels, and will take delivery in 2010 of Dream Seas, a Panamax carrier -- increasing its total capacity to 1.2 million DWT.
