The company designs and sells a wide assortment of upscale stationery, greeting cards, gifts, and art papers and materials through about 65 stand-alone stores in the UK (including Ireland, Holland, and the Middle East) and some 35 concessions at retailers, including Selfridges and Harrods department stores and Waterstone's Booksellers. Paperchase had been expanding in the US with departments inside its former parent company Borders superstores, but it closed many of them when the bookseller fell into bankruptcy. Borders later sold Paperchase to British private equity firm Primary Capital for $31 million in 2010.
