Company Description

Origen Financial is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that makes loans to creditworthy borrowers for manufactured homes in more than 40 states. However, the company has been unable to secure sufficient funding for its lending operations, and shifted its focus to servicing the existing loans in its portfolio, and processing and servicing loans originated by retailers, loan brokers, and other third parties that specialize in manufactured housing. Clients include Hometown America and Sun Communities. In 2008 Origen Financial sold its loan servicing portfolio, worth some $1.6 billion, to Green Tree Servicing.
