Company Description
Optos has opted to provide improved imaging tools to eye doctors. The company is a manufacturer of digital diagnostic imaging equipment used by ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals in the detection and management of eye disease. Its Optomap laser ophthalmoscopes are used by ophthalmologists to perform precision retinal examinations. Its tools are used to detect ailments such as retinal detachments, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma and are marketed to physicians primarily in North America but increasingly in Europe. Optos was founded in 1992 by executive vice chairman and engineer Douglas Anderson after his son's retinal disorder was overlooked by eye doctors.
