OmniVision Technologies gets the big picture with a single chip. The fabless semiconductor company designs semiconductor image sensors (CameraChips) that capture and convert images for cameras, mobile phones, notebooks, and webcams. Its CameraCube device combines the company's image sensors with wafer-level optics for a complete camera module. OmniVision sells to OEMs as well as through distributors; OEM LG Innoteck and distributor WPG Holdings are major customers. Manufacturers and value-added resellers account for more than half of sales, while distributors make up the rest. Most sales are outside the US, predominantly in China and South Korea.
