Old World Industries puts a new spin on making automotive chemicals. The company is the #2 US antifreeze maker (after Honeywell, maker of Prestone) and the only vertically integrated antifreeze producer. Old World's antifreezes include Peak and Sierra (the latter marketed as a safer alternative to other antifreezes), as well as private-label products. Old World also makes de-icers, pickup bed liners (Herculiner), diesel exhaust fluid (BlueDEF), and wiper blades (Blue Mountain Professional). Its chemicals unit is a leading maker of ethylene glycol (used in antifreeze) and ethylene oxide. Thailand's Indorama Ventures has agreed to acquire the company and unit Old World Transportation for $795 million.
