Company Description

To access electricity across the state of Ohio, 706,000 retail customers turn to Ohio Power (which does business as part of AEP Ohio, along with Columbus Southern Power  and Wheeling Power). The company, one of American Electric Power's largest utility subsidiaries, operates more than 31,260 miles of transmission and distribution lines. The utility also generates more than 8,500 MW of capacity from primarily hydroelectric and fossil-fueled power plants (the bulk from coal-fired plants), and it sells wholesale electricity to other power companies.
