Founded in 1833, Oberlin College was the first college in the US to enroll women on an equal basis with men. The school has a College of Arts and Sciences (about 2,200 enrollees), but may be best known for its Conservatory of Music (about 600 enrollees). Students can earn bachelor's degrees in either program, but can also earn a five-year double-degree in both. In addition, Oberlin offers master's degrees in opera theater, conducting, performance, historical performance, historical instruments, music teaching, and education.
