The company, equally owned by British oil giant BP and Russian investors (AAR), is one of Russia's largest oil and gas enterprises. In 2007 TNK-BP had proved reserves of 8.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent and operated refineries in Russia (four) and Ukraine (one) with a combined capacity of more than 1.4 million barrels per day. It also operates 1,600 gas stations in the two countries. In addition, the company is a major retail player in the Moscow market.
