Company Description
Nyrstar has taken the world (of zinc) by storm. The company already claims to be #1 in the global zinc market. Its business is smelting concentrated zinc -- some of which is sourced from company-owned mines -- into alloys that are used for die-casting toys, locks, and zippers and for galvanizing steel in cars, buildings, and bridges to protect them from rust. It also produces lead that is sold and used in batteries. Nyrstar processes more than one million tons of zinc per year, with more than half of its global production sold to Europe.
