Formed in 1997 by a merger of Carolina Medicorp, Presbyterian Healthcare , and Thomasville Medical Center, Novant serves some 3.5 million people in more than 30 counties across North and South Carolina and Virginia. The system includes nine hospitals (with more than 2,600 beds), three philanthropic foundations, two nursing homes, about 300 physician clinics, rehabilitation and community outreach programs, and surgical and diagnostic outpatient offices.
