North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System (NS-LIJ) operates more than a dozen hospitals in Long Island and New York's outer boroughs; several of these facilities are affiliated with regional medical schools, including New York University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The system has a mental health facility (Zucker Hillside Hospital), several long-term care facilities, rehabilitation services, and outpatient surgery centers. Other operations include home care and hospice services, diagnostic laboratory facilities, and emergency medical services. NS-LIJ employs about 9,000 doctors and 10,000 nurses.
