Nippon Life Insurance, also known as Nissay, is Japan's largest life insurer. The company, which has some 12 million policyholders in Japan, uses a door-to-door sales corps to peddle its traditional insurance products, including individual and group life and annuity policies. Nippon Life also sells through agencies and partnerships with financial institutions such as banks. In addition to its life insurance products, the company administers defined contribution pension plans and medical coverage plans and provides asset management services. Through its Nissay Dowa General Insurance affiliate, the company sells auto and other property/casualty insurance.
