Company Description
From Upstate to Midtown, the governor of New York is responsible for the entire Empire State. The governor, as chief executive, prepares the state's executive budget, enforces the laws enacted by the Senate and Assembly, and acts as Commander-in-Chief of the state's military and naval forces. Departments such as Agriculture and Markets, Correctional Services, Environmental Conservation, Labor, and Transportation also fall under the governor's control. New York State has an annual budget of roughly $120 billion. Eliot Spitzer resigned as governor in 2008 amid allegations of his involvement in a prostitution ring. He was succeeded by Lieutenant Governor David Paterson, now the state's 59th chief executive.
