A New Jersey resource that predates Bruce Springsteen and the Nets -- natural gas is the main product of New Jersey Resources (NJR). The company's New Jersey Natural Gas utility unit distributes gas to 490,400 residential and business customers in the state. Its 13,400 miles of gas mains handle distribution, transmission, and service, and two LNG plants supply peak demand. Nonregulated subsidiary NJR Energy Services, which accounts for more 60% of NJR's sales, provides wholesale gas supply, transportation, and storage to customers from the Gulf Coast to New England. It also invests in energy-related ventures (pipelines and storage terminals, and other midstream assets) through NJR Energy Holdings.
