The appropriately-named NeoPharm is developing new drugs for cancer and revising its old plan for success. The biopharmaceutical firm had been counting on lead drug candidate Cintredekin Besudotox (which targets deadly brain tumors) to gain FDA approval and start generating sales, but it failed in late-stage clinical trials, and the regulatory agency said it would require further testing if the drug is to be approved. Until it gains collaborative funding to proceed with another major Cintredekin Besudotox trial, NeoPharm will focus on developing its NeoLipid drug delivery technology, a liposome-based formulation of widely-used cancer drug paclitaxel (marketed as Taxol by Bristol-Myers Squibb). To read the full description, subscribe now.
