The National Gallery of Art, one of the world's preeminent art museums, owns more than 100,000 works of art dating from the Middle Ages to the present. Its collection of European and American art is comprised of works by some 10,000 artists including Leonardo da Vinci, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso. The gallery is located on the National Mall in two buildings and an adjacent sculpture garden; its Web site offers virtual collection tours and in-depth study tours, as well as the ability to search the entire collection by artist, title, or style.
