Company Description
For those who would rather sit than shop, N Brown Group (NBG) offers an alternative -- mail-order and online shopping. One of Britain's biggest home-shopping retailers, NBG markets clothing and household goods from more than 20 catalogs, including JD Williams, Ambrose Wilson, Premier Man, Gray & Osbourn, and Fifty Plus. It also operates lingerie e-tailer Figleaves, which was acquired in 2010. Most of the firm's catalogs are directed toward middle-aged and elderly men and women, but the firm has been broadening its customer base to include younger and plus-size shoppers. Chairman Sir David Alliance, who founded textile firm Coats Viyella, and his family own nearly 50% of the company.
