Operating as NYSE Amex Options and NYSE Amex Equities, the exchange uses a hybrid model of auction-based and electronic trading; it lists more than 500 operating companies and funds and is one of the nation's largest options exchanges (behind the Chicago Board Options Exchange). NYSE Euronext is selling stakes in NYSE Amex Options to a group of investors including Bank of America, Barclays Capital, and Goldman Sachs. NYSE Euronext will continue to operate the entity and will remain its largest stakeholder.
