If you're flying north of the US and south of the North Pole, you'll be hearing from NAV CANADA. The company operates Canada's civil air navigation system, providing air traffic control and flight information services. It has eight area control centers and more than 40 control towers. Revenue comes from fees paid by airlines and other aircraft operators. A group of Canada's airlines, air controllers, and business jet operators collaborated in 1995 to create NAV CANADA as a private company without shareholders, but with the ability to issue bonds. It acquired the nation's civil air navigation system from the Canadian government in 1996. NAV CANADA works closely with regulatory agency Transport Canada. To read the full description, subscribe now.

    Competition

    Competitive Landscape for NAV CANADA
Local and regional air travel, especially business travel, drives demand for aviation services to small and private aircraft. Profitability is based on sales volume, as prices fluctuate only periodically. Small companies can compete effectively in hometown markets. Big companies have more clout in negotiating with suppliers, which allows them better pricing options for their own services. To read the full description, subscribe now.
